Hello Monterey Township residents
This site is dedicated to educating you about the potential sixty-eight or more
400-foot tall windmills coming to Monterey Township.
Your new neighbor may be this industrial machine that turns your once quiet
way of life into a noisy and physically pulsating experience that will be here
for 20 or more years.
Your property values will no doubt go down by these not so gentle giants!!!
Please contact us today and let us help ourselves save our way of life.
Each of us can make a difference and have a say in our future.
For those of you who missed it. Wood TV8 did a story on Monterey
Township and how potential wind turbine development is affecting the unity of
our residents. Here is a link to that news story:

NOTE: The moratorium for accepting special use permits for wind development has only been extended to the beginning of September 2010.
ATTENTION LATEST UPDATE! ORDINANCE APPROVED BY THE MONTEREY TOWNSHIP BOARD!
On July 5, 2010 the Monterey Township Board approved the 10.41 Wind and Utility
Grid Systems Ordinance. It was passed with a 3-2 vote. Before the vote, there was
a request from one of our residents to have another public hearing on the ordinance.
This is due to the fact that changes to the ordinance had been made. The board
ignored this request.
Another request was made before the final vote. A board member made a motion to
amend the setback from 600' at the property line and 1,400' from non associated
occupied dwellings to 1,000' from the property line. This was an attempt to
eliminate the zoning out of property owners rights. This change, however,
was voted down 3-2. The ordinance will be published in its entirety on the
townships' new website and in the Pennesee Globe newspaper.
Please check out our meetings page for the next local
Monterey Township Board and Planning Commission meetings. Thanks for your support!
The Monterey Township Planning Commission has made a few very minor changes
and are ready to send this ordinance thru. The changes they made do not protect
the township and residents of Monterey. You cannot change a few words to an
ordinance of this complicated nature and think you have done a great job!
Please come and let them know it is far from finished!!!
Please see our proposed ordinance that was presented to
the Planning Commission back in February 2010. Our proposed ordinance is in
the Read This Now section of our website. There are many, many points that
we bring up in our proposal that have been ignored by the Planning Commission.
The rules and regulations in our proposal are there to protect the health,
safety and welfare of everyone not just a select few.
Please, please find the time to attend these meetings!! It is your voice that
the township officials need to hear in order to make the right decisions for our
community. This is your hometown you have a right to have a say in its destiny!
Take the time to look through our web site. We include a wealth of information
that will help you understand the various pitfalls of wind energy.
